Glamor Art Deco to Flapper Silhouettes: Glimpse Sebastian Gunawan's Latest Collection

Designer Sebastian Gunawan has revisited the Roaring Twenties for his latest collection, "Jazz & Jasper," showcased at the Sebastian Gunawan Signature Annual Fashion Show 2026 in Jakarta. The collection, a collaboration with Cristina Panarese, aims to capture the free, bold, and elegant spirit of women from the 1920s, translating the era's aesthetics into lighter, more flexible designs relevant for contemporary women.

The name "Jazz & Jasper" symbolizes two complementary characters. "Jazz" embodies the energy and freedom of expression characteristic of the 1920s, while "Jasper" is inspired by the gemstone representing strength, enduring beauty, and the luxury of Art Deco.

The collection's visual presentation strongly evokes the 1920s without appearing costumey. Gunawan reinterprets classic silhouettes with contemporary volume and dramatic construction. The color palette echoes Art Deco's opulence, with gold, silver, black, red, bronze, and blue featured across various designs. Sharp-cut metallic gowns offer a futuristic feel, while cream-colored dresses with embroidery provide a softer vintage touch. A bold exploration includes a cropped crystal top paired with structured balloon pants.

Accessories by Rinaldy A. Yunardi enhance the 1920s theme, with most models wearing modern cloche-style headpieces. The makeup, featuring smokey eyes and natural lips, complements the sleek hairstyles, completing the collection's distinct character.
