Global Citizenship Education: NGO Urges Curriculum Reform in Estonia

An Estonian NGO, Mondo, is pushing for the integration of global citizenship competencies into the national school curriculum. The organization argues that this educational shift is crucial for equipping students with a better understanding of globalization and international development cooperation.

Mondo's proposal suggests that a curriculum focused on global citizenship would broaden students' perspectives beyond national borders. This, they believe, would foster a more informed and engaged populace capable of navigating an increasingly interconnected world.

The initiative has found support from the Estonian Historical Association. Madli-Maria Naulainen, representing the association, agreed that current curricula often lack the wider viewpoint necessary for students to grasp complex global issues.
