Global coffee industry to meet in Panama for inaugural World of Coffee event

Panama City is set to host the World of Coffee Panama 2026 from October 23 to 25, marking the first time this major global coffee industry event will be held in Latin America and a coffee-producing nation. The convention is expected to draw approximately 13,000 attendees and over 320 exhibitors from more than 30 countries.

Organized by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), the Specialty Coffee Association of Panama (SCAP), and the Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture of Panama (CCIAP), the event will bring together a diverse range of professionals. Participants will include producers, buyers, importers, exporters, roasters, baristas, equipment manufacturers, and distributors. The agenda focuses on establishing commercial ties, discovering new coffee origins and suppliers, exchanging technical knowledge, presenting innovations, and analyzing current trends shaping the global coffee market.

The World of Coffee Panama will take place at the modern Panama Convention Center. This venue will host trade exhibitions, business meetings, conferences, coffee tastings, training sessions, and discussions on innovation, sustainability, technology, preparation methods, and market development. The event offers an opportunity for the international community to explore the diversity of Latin American coffees, their production regions, and the people involved in the value chain.

Beyond showcasing Panama's renowned geisha variety, the event will highlight other coffee types, processes, and sensory profiles integral to the country's coffee culture. Ricardo Koyner, president of SCAP, emphasized Panama's reputation for quality, traceability, transparency, and trust, noting the event's role in connecting regional producers with new markets. Additionally, Panama will be the first location in Latin America and a coffee-producing country to host the World Barista Championship from October 22-25.
