Aron Sigurðarson netted a first-half hat-trick as KR secured a crucial 5-3 victory over KA in the Besta deild men's football league. The win allowed KR to cut the deficit to league leaders Víkingur to six points, while KA remains in a relegation spot.

KA fought back to equalize twice, with goals from Hallgrímur Mar Steingrímsson and André Römer. Sigurðarson completed his hat-trick in the 28th minute, and Orri Hrafn Kjartansson extended KR's lead to 4-2 by halftime.

KR sealed the victory early in the second half. Eiður Gauti Sæbjörnsson scored KR's fifth goal in the 49th minute. KA managed a late consolation goal through Kári Gautason, but the 5-3 scoreline stood.
