Godfred Dame disagrees with Sedina Tamakloe acquittal, urges Attorney-General to appeal

Former Attorney-General Godfred Dame has expressed strong disagreement with the Court of Appeal's decision to acquit Sedina Tamakloe Attionu, the former Chief Executive Officer of MASLOC. Dame maintains that the prosecution successfully proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt during the initial trial.

Dame stated that the evidence presented by the prosecution was credible and sufficient to secure a conviction. He noted that Ms. Tamakloe had absconded after being confronted with the evidence. He questioned the grounds for her acquittal and suggested that the current Attorney-General should provide an explanation for the appellate court's ruling, inquiring whether the state had adequately opposed the appeal.

When asked if he would advise the Attorney-General to challenge the ruling, Dame responded affirmatively. He also commented on the ongoing criminal case involving former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, noting that an application for a stay of proceedings was dismissed, and a new application has been filed at the Court of Appeal. Dame criticized the decision to hear this case during the legal vacation, calling it "unjustified haste."
