Golden Olympians Kaleb and Šprem join 'Asia Express': 'We are a well-coordinated duo'

Two Croatian handball legends, Olympic gold medalists Nikša Kaleb (53) and Goran Šprem (46), are trading their jerseys for an adventure in the reality show 'Asia Express: Zmajeva ruta'. The former teammates, who achieved world glory with the Croatian national team by winning Olympic gold in Athens in 2004 and the World Championship in Portugal in 2003, are now embarking on what they call the greatest adventure of their lives.

Years after retiring from professional handball, Kaleb and Šprem are ready to compete for another title, this time far from the handball court. While retirement has distanced them from the sport, it hasn't diminished their winning mentality. Kaleb, a father of two from Metković, has found a new passion in professional diving, while Šprem, also a father of two, is involved in sports tourism. Both are confident that their competitive spirit remains undimmed.

Their greatest asset, they believe, is the trust built over decades of playing together. "We are a well-coordinated duo," they state, convinced that their friendship, sports experience, and what they jokingly call 'cosmic harmony' will help them overcome any obstacle on the Dragon's Route. They acknowledge the difficulty of the task ahead, but are unfazed by tough conditions, little sleep, unpredictable challenges, and life on the road.

When asked about physical advantages, Kaleb humorously replies, "I'm entering this race with one healthy knee, a healthy heart, and healthy lungs." Šprem adds readily, "Our biggest advantage is that we can still walk normally, despite all the plates, anchors, and screws we have in our bodies." The question remains whether these two golden Olympians can translate their winning mentality into success in the toughest race of their lives, and if their experience, endurance, and unbreakable team bond will be enough to conquer the physical and mental challenges of 'Asia Express'.
