Golf: Ryan Fox wins 154th British Open for first major title

New Zealand professional golfer Ryan Fox has achieved the greatest success of his career, winning the 154th British Open. The 39-year-old secured his maiden major title at the Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, finishing with a total score of 270 strokes after four rounds.

Fox edged out American professionals Cameron Young, who finished with 271 strokes, and Sam Burns, who was one stroke further back at 272. The victory comes with a significant prize of $3.2 million USD (approximately 2.8 million Euros) and the prestigious Claret Jug trophy.

Local favorite Tommy Fleetwood of England and world number one Scottie Scheffler from the USA tied for fourth place with a score of 273. Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy finished the esteemed tournament in a tie for 40th place with 279 strokes.

The event also saw the early exit of German participants, 21-year-old amateur Tim Wiedemeyer and 22-year-old Tiger Christensen, who failed to make the cut after the first two rounds.
