Gombe Police enforce zero tolerance for traffic offenders

The Gombe State Police Command in Nigeria has launched a strict enforcement drive, declaring a zero-tolerance policy for traffic violations. This move aims to restore order on the roads and significantly reduce accidents across the state.

The Gombe State Police Command has declared a zero-tolerance policy against traffic violations as it intensifies enforcement of road safety laws across the state.

The initiative is a direct response to a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu. The command expressed serious concern over the increasing disregard for traffic regulations, which has led to congestion, obstructed traffic flow, road crashes, and tragic losses of life and property.

In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the command warned that all traffic offenders, regardless of their status, including serving security personnel, will face legal sanctions. Vehicles found in violation of traffic laws will be impounded, and offenders may be prosecuted. Officers involved in enforcement are instructed to maintain the highest levels of discipline and professionalism, with no exemption from obeying road safety rules.

Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, urged all road users, motorists, commercial drivers, tricycle and motorcycle operators, to adhere to traffic regulations, obey road signs, drive responsibly, and cooperate with law enforcement. He reiterated the command's commitment to enhancing public safety, maintaining order, and promoting responsible road use within Gombe State, emphasizing that strict adherence to traffic laws is crucial for protecting lives and property.
