Gombe SSG warns civil servants against absenteeism

Gombe State's Secretary to the Government, Ibrahim Njodi, issued a stern warning to civil servants at the Gombe State Liaison Office in Kaduna, addressing issues of absenteeism, truancy, and poor work ethics. Njodi stated that the administration of Governor Muhammadu Yahaya maintains a zero-tolerance policy for indiscipline within the civil service.

On no account should any member of staff in this liaison office display a nonchalant attitude towards government business. Gone are the days when civil servants receive salaries with little or no productivity.

During a visit to the liaison office, Njodi interacted with staff and inspected facilities, emphasizing that laxity in official duties is unacceptable. "Gone are the days when civil servants receive salaries with little or no productivity," he declared, urging public servants to justify the confidence placed in them through tangible results. He specifically warned against any nonchalant attitude toward government business.

The administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has zero tolerance for any civil servant whose stock-in-trade is absenteeism, truancy and the flagrant abuse of civil service rules and regulations.

To enhance accountability and efficiency, Njodi mandated that all staff submit their individual job descriptions by the close of work on Friday. Meanwhile, the Acting Liaison Officer, Bilhatu Latile, highlighted the office's 13 staff members and appealed for renovations to improve the working environment and facilities.

We appeal to the Gombe State Government, through the Secretary to the State Government, to consider giving the liaison office a facelift to improve the working environment and the condition of the facilities.
