Google Pixel Watch users update now: Battery life up 10%, eligible models revealed

Google is rolling out Wear OS 7, a significant update for its Pixel Watch lineup, promising enhanced functionality and improved battery performance. The update is available for Pixel Watch 2, Pixel Watch 3, and Pixel Watch 4, but the first-generation Pixel Watch is excluded due to Google's three-year software support policy.

A key highlight of Wear OS 7 is its improved battery life. Google claims that the new version offers up to a 10% increase in battery endurance compared to Wear OS 6, thanks to underlying optimizations. While actual performance may vary based on usage patterns and device conditions, the update aims to provide a noticeably longer smartwatch experience.

The update also introduces several practical new features. The 'Live Updates' function allows users to receive real-time information directly on their smartwatch, such as sports scores or delivery progress, syncing seamlessly with their phones. This feature eliminates the need for frequent phone checks.

Furthermore, Wear OS 7 includes a new audio switcher, enabling users to easily manage audio output across different devices. This facilitates quick switching between Bluetooth headphones, smart speakers, and other playback devices, even when the phone is not readily accessible.

While Wear OS 7 brings immediate benefits, some anticipated features, like Gemini Intelligence for advanced AI experiences on the Pixel Watch, will be added in subsequent updates. Future integration with smart glasses is also planned, allowing for seamless photo previews on the smartwatch after capturing images with smart glasses, enhancing cross-device interaction.
