Honda's N-BOX gets a dark makeover to challenge rivals

Honda is stepping up its game in Japan's mini-vehicle segment with the updated N-BOX, aiming to recapture market share. The most striking addition is the N-BOX JOY Black Style special edition, a visually aggressive variant designed to directly confront its main rival, the Mitsubishi Delica Mini. This new model emphasizes a rugged, outdoor-ready aesthetic with a comprehensive blacked-out theme.

The Black Style edition distinguishes itself with a dark grille featuring the HONDA logo, previously an optional extra. The exterior enhancements include gloss black treatment for the H emblem, model badging, rear bumper accents, and 14-inch wheel covers. These dark elements are complemented by the existing black side mirrors, door handles, and roof, creating a cohesive and imposing look that amplifies the N-BOX JOY's crossover appeal.

Inside, the Black Style continues the dark theme. The seats are designed for outdoor use, featuring a plaid pattern that resists dirt and is water-resistant. The interior is highly functional, with seats that fold flat to create a double bed. Honda Access genuine accessories, such as roof straps, side hooks, and versatile storage nets, further enhance its utility for outdoor adventures and camping, positioning it as a strong competitor against the Delica Mini.

Under the hood, the N-BOX offers two engine options: a 0.66-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine producing 58 horsepower and 6.6 kg-m of torque, and a turbocharged version delivering 64 horsepower and 10.6 kg-m of torque. Both engines are paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The N-BOX is available in both front-wheel and all-wheel-drive configurations.
