Goran Ivanišević to Host Charity Tennis Match for Fire-Ravaged Omiš

Croatian tennis icon Goran Ivanišević is organizing a special exhibition match to support the town of Omiš, which has been devastated by wildfires. The event, titled "25 Years of Wimbledon," will feature Ivanišević playing against fellow Croatian player Borna Ćorić on August 29 at 8 p.m. on Prokurative in Split.

All proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to Omiš as a gesture of solidarity and remembrance for the victims of the recent fires. The evening promises more than just tennis, with a rich entertainment program planned, including concerts by Jasna Zlokić and Tonči Huljić & Madre Badessa. Iva Majoli will also join the tennis duo on the court.

Beyond the exhibition match, Ivanišević is actively involved in nurturing young talent. He is currently mentoring the first Tennis Summer camp at the TK Split 1950 club, where about 50 children are learning from him and his experienced coaching team. This initiative aims to inspire the next generation of tennis stars, following in the footsteps of Ivanišević and other top players who emerged from the club.

Further community engagement includes a Kids Day event on August 22 at the Žnjan tennis courts, with a repeat on August 29 at Prokurative before the main match. Ivanišević, alongside Hajduk football legend Lovre Kalinić, has invited the public to participate in these events, fostering a sense of community and support for Omiš. Kalinić shared a personal anecdote, recalling how Ivanišević's 2001 Wimbledon victory ignited his own sporting passion as a child.
