Gornji Milanovac Implements Water Saving Measures Amidst Poor Hydrological Situation

The municipality of Gornji Milanovac in Serbia has enacted water-saving regulations in response to unfavorable hydrological conditions impacting the regional water supply system, "Rzav." The municipal administration issued an order for the rational use of water from the municipal waterworks, aiming to manage the scarce resource effectively.

Effective immediately, residents are prohibited from irrigating agricultural lands and green areas, filling private swimming pools, wells, and individual reservoirs. The use of water for washing pavements, terraces, and courtyards, as well as the misuse of hydrants, is also forbidden. This decision follows a notification from the public enterprise "Rzav" in Arilje regarding the deteriorating hydrological conditions at the "Ševelj" water intake point.

Further restrictions specifically target agricultural activities, prohibiting the irrigation of crops using water from the Dičina River and its tributaries. The use of water from wells and springs in the affected area is also restricted. These measures are set to remain in place until meteorological conditions improve and the municipality experiences an increase in precipitation.

The local inspectorate will oversee the enforcement of these water usage restrictions. Individuals or entities found to be in violation of the imposed limitations will face punitive measures, ensuring compliance with the conservation efforts.
