Governance Poll: Manfredi's approval grows, placing him third; Mastella makes Top Ten

Naples Mayor Gaetano Manfredi has seen his public approval rating climb, reaching 64% in the latest 2026 Governance Poll. This increase places him third among mayors, behind Sara Funaro of Florence and Marco Fioravanti of Ascoli Piceno. Manfredi's approval has grown since his election day rating of 62.9%.

The poll, conducted by Antonio Noto's polling institute and released by Il Sole 24 Ore, also highlighted Benevento Mayor Clemente Mastella. Mastella secured a spot in the top ten, with his approval rating rising by 6.8% to 59.5%. He shares this position with Giuseppe Sala of Milan. Mastella's inclusion comes after a recent public statement about his health that garnered significant public sympathy.

Nationwide, the Governance Poll 2026 shows a slight decline in overall mayoral approval. While 74 out of 92 mayors, or 80%, achieved a 50% approval rating, this is down from 85% in the previous year. The poll measures the relationship between mayors and citizens, influenced by administrative decisions, communication skills, and local socio-economic conditions, rather than serving as an electoral simulation.
