Government and family of teen killed in Siraha reach seven-point deal

A seven-point agreement has been reached between the government and the family of 15-year-old Ganesh Yadav, who died during unrest in Golbazar, Siraha. The deal was finalized late Friday night after extensive negotiations, with the victim's father, Rambriksha Yadav, and Home Minister Sudan Gurung signing the accord.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has committed to immediately initiate the process of declaring Ganesh a national martyr.

The agreement includes the immediate declaration of Ganesh as a national martyr and a relief assistance of Rs1 million to his family. The government has also committed to a thorough and impartial investigation into the killing, ensuring that those responsible face legal prosecution.

Further provisions of the agreement involve providing employment to an eligible member of Ganesh's family. The recommendations from the investigation committee will be implemented through legal channels. Additionally, the government will coordinate with local authorities to establish a memorial park in Ganesh's memory and initiate its construction.

The government has further pledged to carry out an impartial and effective investigation into the killing and ensure that those found responsible are prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The ministry has also pledged to cover the educational expenses for Ganesh's brother and sister and ensure his mother receives free medical treatment at a government hospital. Ganesh's funeral is scheduled for Saturday morning.
