Government Will Not Marginalise Indian Community, Prime Minister Says

Malaysia’s government will not marginalise the Indian community, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said, pledging to widen support in education, welfare and other areas.

Anwar said he was continuing consultations with Indian community leaders to review progress on the Madani government’s agenda and hear concerns that still affect the community. He said initiatives had been launched in education, entrepreneurship, microfinance, welfare and cash assistance to ease pressure on families and improve living standards.

"I stress that the Indian community will never be marginalised, and the Madani government will continue expanding access to financing for entrepreneurs, strengthening MITRA, empowering entrepreneurship and TVET training, and opening more opportunities for youth development through mentoring programmes," Anwar wrote in a Facebook post.

He said remaining gaps, including poverty, citizenship and access to assistance, must be addressed quickly and effectively. Ministries and agencies, he added, need to improve coordination and service delivery so that allocations and policies reach their intended beneficiaries and produce visible changes in people’s lives.
