Governor demands health posts staffed for Tariquia communities

Tarija Governor María René Soruco has demanded immediate action from the Ministry of Health to staff medical facilities in the Tariquia National Flora and Fauna Reserve. During a visit to communities within the reserve, Soruco discovered that local health posts are operating without doctors, leaving residents without essential medical care.

"Minister of Health, there are no doctors in the health posts. We want to demand that the central government urgently attend to the needs of the population, who also get sick," Soruco stated in a video shared on social media. She highlighted the critical situation in areas like Volcán and San José, where residents lack access to healthcare professionals.

The governor stressed that Tarija deserves the same level of attention and resources for its healthcare system as other departments in the country. She urged Minister Marcela Flores to ensure that the people of Tarija have dignified access to healthcare services. Soruco's visit, accompanied by other regional officials, aimed to identify and address the pressing needs of the communities within the reserve.
