Governor Yahaya hails road project as key to regional growth under Tinubu's agenda

Gombe State Governor Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has lauded the commencement of the Gombe-Biu Road reconstruction project, describing it as a historic milestone poised to accelerate economic growth, regional integration, and infrastructure development across the state and the broader Northeast subregion. Governor Yahaya made these remarks while receiving the Minister of Works, David Umahi, along with members of the Senate and House of Representatives Committees on Works, who were in Gombe for the official flag-off of the super highway project.

Governor Yahaya highlighted the project's immense significance, extending beyond Gombe State to impact the Northeast, Nigeria, and neighboring countries in West and Central Africa that rely on this corridor for trade. "This project means a lot to us, the people of Gombe State. It connects us to the rest of the North-east subregion and even West and Central Africa," he stated. He attributed his administration's developmental strides over the past seven years to visionary leadership, strategic partnerships, and prudent resource management.

The governor expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s "Renewed Hope Agenda" will continue to transform the region through critical infrastructure and economic development projects. He assured the contractors of the state's full support and security, emphasizing Gombe's peaceful and conducive environment for investment. Yahaya noted that his administration's development priorities, particularly in infrastructure, agriculture, and livestock, align with the federal government's agenda.

Recalling his long-standing relationship with President Tinubu, Governor Yahaya shared a common vision for harnessing the potential of the livestock value chain to create jobs and improve livelihoods in Northern Nigeria. He stated, "I and Mr. President have always shared the belief that people in Northern Nigeria have no reason to continue transporting live cattle over long distances to the South when the enormous opportunities along the livestock value chain can be harnessed to create jobs, generate wealth and improve livelihoods within the region." With federal support, Gombe State is developing an 184-hectare Agro-Livestock Development Zone, intended to be a hub for livestock processing, value addition, and agribusiness investment, featuring an abattoir, livestock market, and tannery.
