Govind Park set for blockbuster atmosphere at Battle of the Giants

Govind Park in Ba is being transformed for a festival-style football tournament, with the 2026 Extra Battle of the Giants set to begin on Friday.

The eight-team competition will feature more than matches. Fiji Football Association chief executive Mohammed Yusuf said the Ba Town Council had prepared the ground, while Extra Supermarket branding and fan activities would fill the venue.

The preparation done by Ba Town Council in terms of ground preparation, the Extra Supermarket branding will start today in the ground.

LED screens will run around the perimeter, and a giant screen will show replays, scores and advertisements. Extra Supermarket staff will conduct activities during the day, while supporters can expect entertainment during match breaks and halftime, along with prizes.

Every break there will be heaps of activation, a lot of prizes to be won by the fans and so it’s gonna be a jam-packed atmosphere.

Organizers are also adding food and refreshment stalls behind the grandstand pavilion and along the fence toward Xavier College. The changes are intended to give spectators more space and make food and drinks easier to find during breaks.

The opening fixtures start at 1 p.m. Fans can listen to live commentary of every match on Radio Fiji 2.
