Govt aims to restore democracy, development under PM Rahman: Minister

LGRD Minister Abdul Moyeen Khan asserted on Sunday that the government, led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, is committed to rebuilding Bangladesh and restoring its global standing. Khan stated that Rahman has dedicated himself to guiding the country toward democracy and development after 17 years of "authoritarian rule."

Speaking to journalists after paying homage to Liberation War martyrs in Savar, Khan noted Rahman took charge at a critical time with a mandate from millions of voters. He described the Prime Minister as being "fully aware of the problems facing Bangladesh" and determined to transform the nation into a "dynamic state."

After 17 years of authoritarian rule, he has devoted himself to taking the country towards democracy and development and to establishing the rights of the people of Bangladesh.

The minister also touched upon the importance of educating new generations about Bangladesh's history and the Liberation War. He recalled the nation's democratic journey being repeatedly disrupted, while the BNP consistently worked to restore democracy. Khan also referenced the roles of former president Ziaur Rahman, who declared independence, and Khaleda Zia, the country's first female prime minister elected in 1991.
