Grønbæk Scores Twice as Hamburger SV Advances in German Cup

Danish international Albert Grønbæk scored twice on Monday, propelling Hamburger SV into the next round of the German Cup. The 25-year-old midfielder, who recently made his move to the North German club permanent from French side Rennes after a successful loan spell, celebrated his transfer with goals in the 33rd and 50th minutes.

These early goals laid the foundation for a comfortable 3-0 away win against Verl, a team from the 3. Liga. Yussuf Poulsen also featured for HSV, playing the final 15 minutes as a substitute.

Grønbæk opened the scoring just five minutes before halftime. After a high press from the visitors, he won the ball back and, following a one-two with Patson Daka, put HSV ahead 1-0. Shortly after the break, he doubled the lead. Grønbæk cut inside from his position on the left wing, executed a skillful dribble through an opponent's legs, and fired the ball into the net for the 2-0 lead.

Talented 16-year-old Louis Lemke assisted Grønbæk on the second goal and later scored HSV's third. Grønbæk was substituted after 60 minutes, ensuring he should be well-rested for Hamburger SV's Bundesliga season opener on Saturday against Dortmund.
