Grandfather's Dog 'Runs Off' During Walk; Police Assist in Search

In what appears to be a quiet corner of Taiwan's Taitung County, the local police have found themselves dealing with more than just typical crime. Officers at the Xinfeng Police Station recently responded to an unusual call: a grandfather who had his dog, a black canine, unexpectedly 'release itself' from his grasp while on a walk.

Police Chief Pan Feng-chuan and Officer Ba Yao-tsung, who had recently been involved in corralling a water buffalo that had wandered into a local market, were again called to assist. This time, their task was to help the distressed grandfather track down his errant pet.

The incident highlights a series of peculiar animal-related events in the area, suggesting that the local fauna might be as adventurous as the local law enforcement is diligent.
