Grandmother's Hidden Pokémon Card Collection Valued Over $250,000

A family has discovered a remarkable collection of Pokémon memorabilia, amassed by a grandmother for her grandchildren, which is now estimated to be worth more than $250,000. The find includes sealed booster packs, classic cards, and collectible items that have garnered significant attention from fans.

The discovery was shared by one of the grandchildren on Reddit, recounting how his grandmother had mentioned keeping some Pokémon items from years ago, including "some Charizards." The family initially found a box containing toys, figures, accessories, starter decks, a copy of "Pokémon: The First Movie," and 24-karat gold-plated Poké Balls from a 1990s Burger King promotion.

However, the grandmother recalled having more cards and sealed packs stored elsewhere. A subsequent search uncovered several boxes hidden beneath a television stand. Inside, they found sealed Pokémon booster packs, Charizard cards, and an album filled with cards from iconic sets like Base Set, Jungle, and Fossil, highly sought after by collectors.

The grandmother explained that she bought cards for her grandchildren to play with but also purchased extra packs to keep sealed for years. This foresight has now turned into a potentially significant financial asset for the family. Among the most valuable items are three sealed First Edition Fossil collection boxes, each potentially valued between $15,000 and $30,000, along with Base Set booster packs estimated at around $30,000. A sealed 1990s Pokédex and other promotional items further increase the collection's value.
