Greca to run as vice-governor candidate in Paraná, reversing earlier statements

Rafael Greca, the former mayor of Curitiba, has announced he will run as the vice-governor candidate on Sandro Alex's ticket for the Paraná state government. This decision marks a significant shift for Greca, who had publicly declared he would not accept a vice-presidential role.

Greca's change of stance comes after he lost political ground within the PSD party and subsequently joined the MDB. His initial refusal to align with Alex was firm; in a June interview, Greca stated that being Sandro Alex's vice would be "a denial" of his own history, citing his experience and competence.

Earlier this month, Greca reiterated his independent candidacy for governor on social media, emphatically stating, "I will not be anyone's vice." His current decision to join Alex's ticket is seen as a strategic move that solidifies the alliance between the PSD, led by Governor Ratinho Júnior, and the MDB.

The alliance, bolstered by the inclusion of the União Brasil and Progressistas federation, influences the state's political landscape. According to a recent Genial/Quaest poll, Senator Sérgio Moro and state deputy Requião Filho are leading in voter intentions for the governor race, with Alex and Greca following.
