Greece's Summer Sales to Begin July 13, Offering Discounts Through August

Greece's summer sales are scheduled to commence on July 13, offering consumers a chance to find lower prices and businesses an opportunity to boost turnover.

The sales period, which traditionally runs until August 31, is seen as a crucial time for retailers, especially during the summer months when many citizens are on holiday. This year, stores have the option to operate on the first Sunday of the sales, July 19, with a recommended timeframe of 11:00 to 18:00.

Transparency in pricing is a key focus for this year's sales. Greek law mandates that both the previous price and the new, reduced price must be clearly displayed. This ensures consumers can easily verify the actual savings they are making.

Furthermore, any advertised discount percentages must be accurate. The reference price used for calculating discounts is the lowest price applied within the 30 days preceding the sale. When different discount rates apply to various product categories, retailers must indicate the range of discounts, such as 'from 10% to 30%', to provide a clear picture of the offers available.
