Greece's 'Tourism for All' program sees over 1 million applications for 2026-2027

Greece's "Tourism for All" program for the 2026-2027 period has garnered immense public interest, with over one million applications submitted. The focus is now shifting to an electronic lottery to determine the final beneficiaries who will receive digital debit cards.

The Ministry of Tourism anticipates the lottery process to conclude swiftly, enabling the activation of these digital cards by early September. A key objective of this program cycle is to bolster tourism during the low season, specifically from October to April. This strategic emphasis aims to support tourism businesses and regional economies during the typically quieter autumn and winter months.

Data reveals a significant public inclination towards off-season travel, with 70.93% of applications targeting the low season. This aligns perfectly with the program's core goal of extending tourism activities throughout the year. By channeling a substantial portion of available funds into the low season, the initiative seeks to provide crucial support to small and medium-sized tourism enterprises and local economies across the country.

This year's iteration of "Tourism for All" introduces several enhancements and social interventions designed to benefit a broader segment of the population. Income criteria have been broadened, allowing more households to participate. Notably, all income restrictions have been lifted for individuals with disabilities. Additionally, large families with more than four children will receive an extra 50 euros per dependent child, further incentivizing travel.
