Greek Consul General Visits Cumhuriyet, Discusses Bilateral Ties

Konstantinos Koutras, the Consul General of Greece in Istanbul, visited the Cumhuriyet newspaper, accompanied by Press Attaché Yorgos Mamalos. They met with Cumhuriyet's Editor-in-Chief Mine Esen, News Director Can Uğur, and Cumhuriyet.com.tr Responsible Manager M. Birol Güger.

During the meeting, Koutras highlighted the importance of cooperation in culture and tourism for strengthening relations between Turkey and Greece. He also addressed recent public concerns regarding alleged irregularities in Schengen visa appointment procedures. Koutras clarified that Greece works with a single authorized institution, Kosmos, for visa applications and has implemented technical updates to its appointment system to prevent misuse.

The discussions also touched upon current topics concerning Turkey-Greece relations and the upcoming NATO Summit scheduled to take place in Ankara next month. Koutras emphasized that positive progress in cultural and tourism exchanges contributes to the ongoing dialogue process between the two nations.
