Greek Rowers Win Silver at World Junior Championships

Greek rowing achieved a historic milestone at the World Rowing Junior Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, as George Chiotis and Apostolos Stavros Alexiou secured a silver medal in the coxless pair event.

The 18-year-old Greek duo delivered an exceptional performance in the final, clocking in at 6 minutes and 34.07 seconds. They came incredibly close to claiming the world title, ultimately finishing just behind Romania, which secured the gold medal with a time of 6:33.46.

This achievement builds on the pair's previous success, having earned a bronze medal at the European Rowing Junior Championships in Brandenburg just last May. Their consistent performance highlights their growing prowess on the international stage.

Meanwhile, in the junior women's double sculls final, Marina Adam and Stella Karyoti narrowly missed out on a medal. The 17-year-old athletes battled fiercely until the finish line, securing fourth place with a time of 7:06.74. They finished only a few seconds behind the German boat that claimed the bronze medal, demonstrating a strong competitive effort.
