Greek Students to Compete in World Robot Olympiad 2026 Finals

Eleven student teams will represent Greece at the World Robot Olympiad 2026 finals in Puerto Rico, following their success in the Greek qualifying competition organized by WRO Hellas, with COSMOTE TELEKOM as a strategic partner.

The "Robots Meet Culture" theme highlighted how educational robotics and artificial intelligence can be used to preserve, protect, and promote cultural heritage. A total of 39 teams, comprising 174 students from across Greece, presented innovative proposals, demonstrating technology's potential to address contemporary social and cultural challenges.

Competitors developed applications using AI, autonomous navigation, and the Internet of Things (IoT), focusing on practical solutions. Notable projects included an AI-assisted robotic system enabling children with motor difficulties to paint, with AI evaluating and improving drawing accuracy. Another project was a "smart" museum that personalizes visitor experiences through AI applications. Significant proposals also addressed cultural heritage protection, such as autonomous robotic systems for detecting and mapping underwater archaeological finds and solutions for safeguarding heritage sites from natural disasters and human threats.

Beyond competition, educational robotics is emerging as a modern tool that fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, and innovation, skills essential for the 21st century. Through its strategic partnership with WRO Hellas, COSMOTE TELEKOM continues to invest in STEM skill development and the digital transformation of education, promoting equal access to knowledge and technology. This initiative also familiarizes young people with AI capabilities and modern digital tools, preparing them for future challenges.
