Green Electricity Tariffs: How Prices Are Set in September

The battle over the kilowatt-hour continues in Greece, with electricity providers posting wide differences in their September green, or special, tariff rates.

The lowest listed supply price is €0.1476 per kWh on HERON’s Basic Home plan, provided customers qualify for a loyalty discount. Protergia’s Value Special plan charges €0.169 per kWh, also subject to consistent-payment terms.

Public Power Corporation’s special tariff stands at €0.14913 per kWh for consumption of up to 200 kWh. Once consumption exceeds 200 kWh, however, the charge rises to €0.18544 per kWh from the first kilowatt-hour. That structure can change the final cost for households with higher consumption.

The comparison lists rates of €0.188 per kWh for OTE Estate, €0.218 for Natural Gas Hellenic Energy Company and €0.21957 for Volton. Elin follows at €0.22536, EUNICE at €0.22856 and NRG at €0.229, with NRG linking its rate to a loyalty discount.

Enerwave and ZeniΘ use tiered pricing. Enerwave charges €0.159 per kWh for the first 100 kWh and €0.294 from the 101st. ZeniΘ charges €0.195 for the first 100 kWh and €0.297 thereafter, while offering a loyalty discount on the first 100 kWh. Consumers are advised to examine more than the headline rate, including discounts, usage thresholds, contract length and the ability to change plans.
