Green Party: Every parking space should be a charging spot

Sweden's Green Party is launching a policy package named "folkel" as part of its platform for the upcoming September 13 parliamentary elections. The proposals aim to accelerate the country's electrification efforts and ensure a just climate transition nationwide.

Co-spokespersons Amanda Lind and Daniel Helldén presented the "folkel" package during their summer speeches in Stockholm. A central tenet of the proposal is to implement tax reductions on renewable electricity. Additionally, the party advocates for a policy where every parking space would be equipped to serve as a charging point for electric vehicles.

The Green Party's plan also includes strengthening conditions for residents in rental or housing cooperative properties to install solar cells, proposing an increased tax deduction for such installations.

Daniel Helldén emphasized the party's vision, stating, "Every parking space should also be a charging space." The Green Party's "folkel" package seeks to make charging infrastructure more accessible, particularly for those living in multi-unit dwellings, and to further incentivize the adoption of solar energy.
