Green Vision: Assam launches Mega Plantation Drive, Indigenous Fruit Mission

Assam, India, has initiated a significant "Green Vision" program, featuring a mega plantation drive and the launch of an Indigenous Fruit Mission. This ambitious environmental initiative aims to bolster the state's green cover and promote biodiversity.

The program officially commenced at the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary. The state's minister led the effort, joined by local residents, forest officials, and volunteers. Together, they planted 77 saplings, marking the ceremonial start of the extensive tree-planting campaign. This event coincides with the traditional Van Mahotsav celebrations, an annual festival dedicated to tree planting across India.

The Indigenous Fruit Mission, a component of the larger green initiative, focuses on cultivating and preserving the diverse native fruit species of Assam.
