Guanyin Waterfall in Chiayi Offers Refreshing Escape with Abundant Negative Ions, Draws Over a Thousand Visitors During Holiday

Guanyin Waterfall in Chiayi County, Taiwan, has become a popular destination for tourists seeking respite from the summer heat, particularly during the recent Dragon Boat Festival holiday. The waterfall, characterized by its abundant negative ions and refreshing mist, attracted over a thousand visitors in just three days.

Recent heavy rainfall from lingering typhoons has significantly boosted the waterfall's water flow. Visitors describe the sight as spectacular, with water cascading down the cliff face like a white silk ribbon, creating a cooling atmosphere that dissipates the summer heat. The surrounding area is enveloped in a fine mist, rich with negative ions, further enhancing the refreshing experience.

The waterfall features three tiers, but access to the uppermost tier is currently restricted. The "Tongtianpo" trail leading to the third level was damaged by Typhoon Daanas and subsequent heavy rains last year, causing landslides and collapsed steps. Consequently, visitors can currently only reach the second tier, known as Piaogu Yu Waterfall.

Despite the partial closure, the waterfall's allure remains strong. On the first day of the holiday, approximately 200 people visited. The number surged to over 500 on the second day, and with the addition of several tour buses on the third day, the total number of visitors exceeded one thousand by midday. The abundance of water and the natural beauty of Guanyin Waterfall continue to draw crowds seeking both natural splendor and a cool escape.
