Guayaquil Avenue Section to Close for Overpass Construction

Guayaquil authorities will close two lanes on Juan Tanca Marengo Avenue from Saturday, August 8, to Monday, August 10, 2026. The closure, affecting the Vía a Daule to Avenida de Las Américas direction, is necessary for installing beams on the second overpass constructed by the Mayor's Office.

During the work, which will occur near the intersection with Rodrigo Chávez Avenue, heavy machinery will be used for lifting the structures. Traffic heading from Avenida de Las Américas to Vía a Daule will remain open with two lanes.

Several alternative routes are recommended for drivers to avoid disruptions. For those heading to Avenida de Las Américas, they can use Avenida Tanca Marengo towards Avenida Las Aguas, then proceed to Avenida Benjamín Carrión and reach Avenida Orellana. Drivers exiting Urdenor 2 and Parque Empresarial Colón can use Avenida Rodrigo Chávez, the Ecological Bridge, José Santiago Castillo Avenue, and then Juan Tanca Marengo Avenue.

Public transport lines 123, 55, and 13 will temporarily alter their routes. From Rodrigo Chávez Avenue, buses will turn right onto the Ecological Bridge, continue along José Santiago Castillo Avenue to Juan Tanca Marengo Avenue, and then use the Francisco de Orellana Avenue interchange to resume their normal routes. The Municipal Transit Authority (ATM) advises drivers to adhere to speed limits and safety signage in the construction zone to ensure safe transit.
