Gunmen kill bus driver, abduct passengers in Edo

Tragedy struck in Edo State as suspected kidnappers attacked a commercial bus, resulting in the death of the driver and the abduction of passengers. The vehicle was en route from Lagos to Nigeria's eastern region when it came under heavy gunfire, forcing it to a halt. A viral video captured the grim aftermath, with an unidentified narrator detailing how the attackers fatally shot the driver before forcing passengers into the bush.

The kidnappers shot and killed the driver. They also took passengers into the bush. I don’t know the number but it looks more like the entire (sic) were kidnapped.

The Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent Eno Ikoedem, confirmed the incident, which occurred within the Iguobazuwa Police Division's jurisdiction. In response, the Commissioner of Police has mobilized resources from adjoining divisions to conduct extensive bush-combing operations aimed at rescuing the victims and apprehending the perpetrators. The police are also intensifying efforts to enhance security along the affected highway.
