Gunmen Kill Three Miners in Fresh Plateau State Attack

Three miners were killed in a violent attack by unknown gunmen on Thursday evening in the Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, Nigeria. The incident occurred along the GSS Daffo Road as the victims were returning from a mining site in Fubok, Daffo District.

Sources reported that the attackers opened fire on the miners around 7:15 p.m., resulting in the immediate deaths of all three. The deceased have been identified as Maren Agom, 45, from Tadai Village, who sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head; Joe Buba, 38, from Josho Village, who was shot in the chest; and another individual known only as Yellow, whose full details could not be immediately confirmed.

The bodies of the victims have been taken to the Alheri Medical Centre in Daffo. Community sources confirmed that security personnel were promptly alerted and have initiated efforts to apprehend the perpetrators. Security measures in the area have been heightened to prevent further violence.

This latest attack underscores a disturbing trend of escalating killings in Bokkos and other parts of Plateau State. Numerous communities have been subjected to repeated assaults in recent months, despite ongoing security operations aimed at curbing the violence. Efforts to obtain an official confirmation from the Plateau State Police Command spokesperson were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
