Haiti, Türkiye crash out of 2026 FIFA World Cup

Haiti and Türkiye are out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, failing to advance beyond the group stage after suffering consecutive defeats. The Caribbean nation of Haiti saw its first World Cup appearance since 1974 conclude with a 3-0 loss to five-time champions Brazil in Philadelphia.

Brazil secured their passage to the next round with a dominant performance. Matheus Cunha opened the scoring with a close-range finish after a rebound, later doubling the lead with a powerful strike. Vinicius Jr added a third goal just before halftime. The result left Haiti at the bottom of Group C with no points and a -4 goal difference, rendering their final match against Morocco a dead rubber. In Group D, Türkiye also exited the tournament following a narrow 1-0 defeat to Paraguay in the San Francisco Bay Area. Paraguay's Matias Galarza scored the fastest goal of the tournament to date, netting just 64 seconds into the match. Despite late pressure and a red card for Paraguay in stoppage time, Türkiye could not find an equalizer.

The loss confirmed Türkiye's elimination with two defeats from two games and no points, ending their campaign prematurely despite considerable pre-tournament expectations. Paraguay's victory kept their slim qualification hopes alive heading into their final fixture against Australia.
