Hajduk Earns Significant Sum With Conference League Playoff Berth

Splitski Hajduk has secured a spot in the Conference League playoffs, marking their potential return to European competitions for the first time since the 2010/11 season. The Croatian club achieved this by decisively beating Lithuanian side Žalgiris Vilnius.

After a commanding 5-2 victory away in Vilnius, Hajduk completed the task at their home ground, Poljud, with a 4-0 win. Goals from Melnjak, Hrgota, Benrahou, and Šego sealed the aggregate triumph. Hajduk now faces Polish club Raków Częstochowa in the final qualifying round, with the first leg scheduled for Poljud on August 20.

This advancement brings a financial boost from UEFA. The European governing body rewards clubs €175,000 for each qualifying round they participate in. Hajduk, having entered the Europa League qualifiers in the first round, has already accumulated €700,000 from European competitions this season.

Should Hajduk fail to qualify for the main tournament but reach the playoff stage, they are guaranteed a bonus of €750,000. This means the club will earn a minimum of €1.45 million from their European campaign. Furthermore, if they overcome Raków and secure a place in the Conference League group stage, they will receive €3.17 million. Additional earnings are possible through match bonuses, with each group stage victory worth €400,000 and a draw fetching €133,000.
