Hajduk Split advances in Europa League despite loss to Žilina

Hajduk Split has successfully navigated the first hurdle in their Europa League campaign, advancing to the second qualifying round. Despite suffering a 2-1 defeat against Žilina in the away leg, the Croatian club managed to preserve their aggregate advantage from the first match.

The team had established a comfortable 2-0 lead at their home ground, Poljud Stadium. Although Žilina managed to score twice in the return fixture, including a late own goal by Hajduk's Dario Melnjak, it wasn't enough to overturn the deficit.

Hajduk's official social media channels shared a message for their supporters the morning after the match. The post featured photos of fans in Slovakia and included lyrics from a popular fan song: "Everything else is unimportant to us, when we have the Whites, and only the Whites we love. Hajduk, you are everything to us, our song carries you..."

Looking ahead, Hajduk is set to play against Pafos from Cyprus in the second qualifying round. Pafos demonstrated strong performance in the Champions League group stage last season. The first leg is scheduled for July 23 at Poljud Stadium, with the return match taking place a week later in Cyprus.
