Hajj 1447: Pilgrimage with a Visitor Visa Prohibited Under Penalty of Fine and Expulsion

The Saudi Ministry of Interior has unequivocally stated that the Hajj pilgrimage is exclusively for those possessing the specific Hajj visa. This clarification aims to curb the common practice of attempting to perform the sacred rite with a standard visitor visa, ensuring a more organized and secure pilgrimage for all.

To enforce this regulation, severe penalties are in place. Anyone found in Mecca or other holy sites with a visitor visa risks a hefty fine of up to 20,000 riyals and immediate deportation. This strict enforcement, effective from the beginning of Dhou al-Qi'dah until the end of Dhou al-Hijjah, underscores the Kingdom's commitment to managing the Hajj season effectively.

Beyond financial penalties, the consequences are severe. Expulsion from the country is standard, and a subsequent ban from entering Saudi Arabia for a decade awaits those who flout the rules.
