Hamas delegation heads to Egypt for negotiations on second phase of ceasefire - report

A Hamas delegation arrived in Cairo on Tuesday to restart negotiations for the next phase of a ceasefire with Israel. The group announced its travel plans via Telegram, stating the delegation would meet with Egyptian, Qatari, and Turkish mediators, along with Egyptian officials and other Palestinian factions.

These negotiations follow a reported meeting between senior Israeli and Egyptian military officers in Cairo earlier in July. That discussion reportedly included advancing US President Donald Trump's Gaza reconstruction plans. KAN News described Egypt as taking a more assertive stance toward Hamas compared to Turkey and Qatar, suggesting a willingness to take possession of surrendered Hamas weapons.

Meanwhile, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have continued their operations in Gaza.
