Hamburg’s Daniel Elfadli joins Austrian champions Linzer ASK on loan

Daniel Elfadli will leave Hamburger SV on loan for Austrian champions Linzer ASK. Hamburg sporting director Claus Costa said the move would give the midfielder a better chance to play after competition for places reduced his prospects at the German club.

“Fadli was one of our key players in the promotion season and played his part in helping us avoid relegation last season,” Costa said. “Because of the competition, his chance of playing for us has recently become smaller. The loan to LASK has created a great opportunity for him, and we did not want to stand in his way.”

Linzer ASK won Austria’s national title last season for the first time since 1965 and will compete in the Champions League this year. Elfadli joined Hamburg from 1. FC Magdeburg in summer 2024 and quickly became an important player for the club. He started 30 of his 31 second-division matches during Hamburg’s promotion campaign, helping secure the club’s return to the Bundesliga.
