Hamilton dominates at Silverstone

Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time world champion, spectacularly dominated the opening day of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. The Ferrari driver led all timing sheets and will start first in Saturday's sprint race, a shorter event preceding Sunday's main Grand Prix. Hamilton, 41, is in excellent form, having recently secured his first win for Ferrari in Barcelona. Silverstone is a track where he holds many records, including a record nine previous victories.

This weekend's event is one of six sprint race weekends on the calendar. Hamilton led the only practice session and later secured pole position for the sprint race. He completed the 5.891-kilometer circuit in 1 minute, 28.376 seconds, narrowly beating Andrea Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes. Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc of Ferrari will start from the third row.

Other notable drivers include Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso, starting fifteenth and twenty-first respectively. Franco Colapinto and Sergio Pérez will also compete. George Russell and Lando Norris will start from the third row. The sprint race consists of 17 laps, covering just over 100 kilometers.
