HamKam Humiliates Vålerenga in First Away Win of Season

HamKam achieved their first away victory of the Eliteserien season in their eighth attempt, triumphing 3-0 over Vålerenga in Oslo. The team played with a man advantage for nearly the entire match following the early dismissal of Vålerenga's captain, Henrik Bjørdal.

Vålerenga's captain, Bjørdal, was sent off in the 15th minute for a foul on Aksel Potur. While initially shown a yellow card, a VAR review led the referee to upgrade it to a red. Vålerenga players protested the decision, believing the ball was out of play in the build-up and that a foul should have been called in their favor. Despite playing with 10 men, Vålerenga had several chances in the first half, including a breakaway by Mathias Grundetjern that was saved by HamKam's goalkeeper Marcus Sandberg.

We do what we can and create more than them, but I believe there were two refereeing errors that led to them scoring. It looked like the ball was out, and then I got an elbow to the jaw. The goal should have been disallowed.

HamKam took the lead in first-half stoppage time through Potur, who scored with a smart turn and shot. Vålerenga continued to push for an equalizer in the second half, but HamKam extended their lead in the 68th minute when Martin Gjone headed in a free-kick. Patrick Metcalfe sealed the victory in the 84th minute with a solo run.

The win propelled HamKam above Vålerenga in the league table. KFUM Oslo remains the only team in the Eliteserien without an away win this season.
