Hamza Abdelkarim set for senior Barcelona debut in pre-season friendly vs. CE Europa

Young talent Hamza Abdelkarim is on the cusp of a significant career milestone as he prepares for his senior debut with FC Barcelona. The promising player is slated to feature in the team's first pre-season friendly match against CE Europa, scheduled for Friday at the club's sports complex.

Abdelkarim is currently training with the first team under the guidance of German manager Hansi Flick. This upcoming match presents a crucial opportunity for him to showcase his skills and impress Flick, should he be given playing time.

The midfielder's journey to Barcelona began in the youth academy of Egyptian giants Al Ahly. In January 2026, he made a move to Barcelona Atlètic, the club's reserve team, on a six-month loan. His performances during the loan spell were reportedly impressive, leading Barcelona to secure his transfer on a permanent basis.

Barcelona has secured Abdelkarim's services through June 2029, indicating a long-term investment in the player. Prior to his time at Al Ahly's academy, Abdelkarim took his initial steps in youth football in Malaysia, playing for FC Kuala Lumpur and Little League Soccer between 2016 and 2020.
