Hamzah announces Parti Wawasan Negara, reappointed Opposition Leader

Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin, formerly the Deputy President of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), has announced the formation of a new political entity named Parti Wawasan Negara. Hamzah revealed that the name was given by PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang. He stated that the party's first general assembly is scheduled for the following week and expressed a desire for the new party to collaborate with PAS, Gerakan, and other political groups.

Speaking at the Reset Malaysia Convention in Tanah Merah, Hamzah, who is the Member of Parliament for Larut, indicated that the new party is "newly born" and seeks to forge alliances. Several former Bersatu leaders who faced dismissal, suspension, or warnings attended the convention to show their support. Notable attendees included MPs Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, and Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz, alongside Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Samsuri Mokhtar and Gerakan President Datuk Dr. Dominic Lau.

This announcement follows reports from the previous week that Hamzah intended to reveal a new party. In a related development, PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang confirmed Hamzah's reappointment as the opposition leader. Abdul Hadi also affirmed that Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Dr. Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar will continue as the Chairman of Perikatan Nasional (PN).
