Hanmi Group sponsors national competition for hearing-impaired baristas

Hanmi Group is backing the 8th National Competition for Hearing-Impaired Baristas, aiming to boost the professional capabilities and social inclusion of deaf baristas. The event, organized by the Chong-Eum Welfare Center, seeks to identify skilled individuals and create more job opportunities.

Open to any hearing-impaired person capable of making coffee, the competition features preliminary rounds on September 19 and finals on October 24. It includes a main competition assessing latte art skills and a creative menu category. Hanmi Group has established the "Wanjeon Soy Milk Creative Award" for the creative menu section, encouraging participants to develop menu planning and development skills alongside their coffee-making expertise.

Beyond the competition, Hanmi Group is actively promoting disability employment. Their in-house cafe, 'Equal Garden,' employs six baristas with hearing and developmental disabilities. A dedicated rehabilitation counselor supports these employees, ensuring their smooth integration and ongoing employment.
