Hanoi Traffic Police Find Drugs Hidden in a Man’s Mouth During Breath Test

A 33-year-old man tried to destroy evidence by pulling a packet of drugs from his mouth after Hanoi traffic police stopped him for a breath test, but officers saw what he was doing and detained him.

The Hanoi Traffic Police Department said on Sept. 8 that officers from Road Traffic Police Team No. 3 had handed L.V.B., from Dien Bien province, and the seized items to police in Lang Ward for investigation.

The incident took place at about 9 p.m. on Sept. 7 at the Lang-Nguyen Chi Thanh intersection. Officers, working with Lang Ward police, were checking for alcohol-related traffic violations when they stopped a man riding a red Honda Wave motorcycle with a Phu Tho license plate.

As soon as he stopped, the driver reached into his mouth and threw a plastic packet containing white crystals onto the road. Officers noticed the act, restrained him and recovered the packet. During questioning, L.V.B. admitted that it contained heroin he had bought for personal use.

Police prepared a record and transferred the man, the suspected drugs and the motorcycle to Lang Ward police for investigation into suspected illegal possession of narcotics.
