Hansi Flick highlights urgent need for Barcelona attack reinforcement

New Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has identified an urgent need to reinforce the team's attack, citing potential departures and the uncertainty surrounding Ferran Torres's future. Flick expressed confidence in sporting director Deco's ability to address these needs, stating, "We know we have to do something."

The club's pursuit of Atlético Madrid's Julián Álvarez has hit a roadblock. Atlético CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marín firmly rejected Barcelona's offers, including a reported €100 million bid, stating the player is not for sale. "We do not want to transfer him, we did not accept the offer of 100 million euros, nor will we accept one of 150, or 200," Marín declared.

Adding to the uncertainty is the future of Spanish international Ferran Torres. "It also depends (on what happens) with Ferran," Flick commented, acknowledging the player's situation. Torres, who has one year left on his contract, stated, "I have a contract with Barcelona, but in football, you never know." He is reportedly attracting interest from clubs like Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite these uncertainties, Flick highlighted the versatility of recent signings Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, who can operate as central forwards. "Gordon and Adeyemi can play on both wings and as 'nines,' so we actually have many options," Flick said. He also mentioned that young talent Lamine Yamal is capable of playing in that role, suggesting the team has internal solutions while pursuing external reinforcements.
