Hanwha Group Focuses on Daejeon Accident Aftermath and Safety Checks, Postpones Events

Hanwha Group is mobilizing all resources to address the accident at its Hanwha Aerospace facility in Daejeon, while simultaneously launching a company-wide safety inspection initiative. The group has suspended internal events across its affiliates, prioritizing a period of mourning for the employees lost in the incident.

The comprehensive safety review will encompass all domestic and international operations of Hanwha's petrochemical subsidiaries, including Hanwha Corporation, Hanwha Solutions, Hanwha TotalEnergies, and Hanwha Impact. This inspection, scheduled to conclude by June 10, will involve dedicated teams led by CEOs, focusing on operational safety, production processes, and environmental management.

Hanwha Aerospace, the site of the accident, will cease operations at all but essential functions across its nine national facilities from June 4 to June 5. This marks the first time the company has implemented a full operational suspension since its integration in 2023, signaling a high-priority focus on safety improvements. The company aims to use this inspection period to implement significant safety reforms.

The group's response underscores a commitment to rectifying safety protocols and honoring the victims. The extensive safety checks and operational pauses reflect the seriousness with which Hanwha is treating the incident and its broader implications for workplace safety across its diverse business units.
